After more than 8 months of opening socio-economic activities, the tourism sector in the whole country in general and Phu Yen in particular is recovering and developing breakthroughly. Phu Yen Tourism's goal of welcoming 2 million visitors in 2022 is gradually reaching the finish line.

Following the direction of the Government and the plan to reopen tourism activities in the new normal conditions of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Phu Yen People's Committee has sent an official dispatch to reopen domestic and international tourism activities. economy under new normal conditions in the province. Ms Nguyen Thi Hong Thai, Acting Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, recalls: When it was decided to open tourism, Phu Yen tourism sector promoted the application of information technology and communication to restart the sector. Tourism on websites and social networking sites, participating in major tourism promotion events of provinces and cities: Signing cooperation agreements on tourism development in 6 provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Kon Tum, Quang Ngai; participating in Vietnam International Tourism Market - VITM Hanoi 2022; Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival 2022. Thereby, businesses in the province have approached and introduced their typical tourism products and services to tourists and localities across the country; travel agencies, hotels, restaurants, resorts promoted new tourism services and products, found partners, signed business contracts, established relationships with partners. At the same time, mobilizing and encouraging tourism service businesses in the province to improve the quality of products and services, accommodation establishments, have a discount policy but still ensure service quality; actively develop new tourism products and services; improve professionalism in serving tourists, actively participate in tourism stimulus programs…

With the efforts of the whole sector, Phu Yen tourism has had a successful peak tourist season. The number of visitors to Phu Yen has grown strongly, exceeding the pre-pandemic milestone. Holidays such as: Hung King's death anniversary (welcoming 15,000 visitors), the occasion of April 30 to May 1 (29,400 visitors), National Day of September 2 (41,000 visitors) and especially in the summer, Phu Yen tourism sector welcomes a large number of guests, many times the hotel room is full.

In October 2022, the number of tourists to Phu Yen reached 210,000, accumulated in the first 10 months of 2022, the total number of tourists to Phu Yen reached more than 1.82 million, reaching 91% of the year plan, stay nearly 1.1 million turns; tourism revenue reached 2,283 billion VND.

According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC), Mr Dao My, Head of the Steering Board for Tourism Development of Phu Yen, one of the factors to help tourism recover quickly is to build safe products and services after COVID-19. Along with that, the attentive and dedicated service in service, constantly renewing and enriching tourism products to meet the needs of visitors. 

At the regular meeting of the PPC in October, Standing Vice Chairman of the PPC, Mr Le Tan Ho noted the positive results and efforts of the tourism industry in the process of recovery and development. As of October, the total number of visitors to Phu Yen reached 91% of the year plan, from now until the end of the year, time is short, the whole sector continues to strive to achieve the set targets.

According to Ms Nguyen Thi Hong Thai, from now until the end of the year, tourism is in the low season, but the whole sector will strive to reach and exceed the plan to welcome 2 million visitors in 2022. At the same time, the sector will continue to strengthen promotion, advertising, investment in upgrading tourism services and products to prepare for the tourist season in 2023. “Specifically, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will organize a delegation to participate in the conference of promoting and cooperating with provinces in the Mekong Delta region in 2022 (in Bac Lieu), a tourism survey program in the provinces of Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Dong Thap (from November 26 to December 1); VITM in Da Nang (December 9-11); food exchange event in Gia Lai 2022 (December 22-25). The Tourism Association organized a famtrip group to connect with Hanoi and the Northwest provinces (from November 17-24)…”, Ms Thai informed.
