Red fruits are sour once eaten at the root, the fruit picked from the top is less sour but sweet. The red tree is about from 5m to 7m high, intercropped in jackfruit, pineapple gardens in Son Xuan, Son Long and Son Dinh communes in Van Hoa plateau (Son Hoa district).
Red fruit grows in clusters from the trunk, abundantly from the root to the top of the tree. Some trees are so large that their perimeter equal to two or three people’s arms; they have red ripe fruit surrounded, very beautiful. Since the 12th month of the last lunar year, on the trunk emerged with small mound, from there protruding the small gray color bunch, then grow gradually, red gradually. By the end of the 7th lunar month, red fruit has begun to ripen, but only before and after the Mid-Autumn Festival, they are so ripe. It is time traders began to come to the gardens to select the trees with more ripe fruit to purchase, pick, and then take them to markets. This is also the time the photographers arrive at the gardens to find and take beautiful pictures. Since then, in recent years, the visitor groups near and far have come here to find the red orchard in Son Xuan commune to visit, take photographs, giving the plateau a new tourism nuance.
