On the occasion of the 2025 Lunar New Year, youth organizations across the province simultaneously responded to the Planting Festival as an eternal tribute to Uncle Ho.

Starting in mid-January, the Provincial Youth Union, in collaboration with the Youth Union of Hoa Xuan Dong Commune, Dong Hoa Town, organized a launch ceremony for the Planting Festival - perpetuating the memory of Uncle Ho. The event saw the active participation of numerous union members and young volunteers from affiliated youth organizations. Youth units planted 100 trees at the village headquarters and various public spaces across Hoa Xuan Dong Commune.

Ms Tran Thi Hao, Secretary of Hoa Xuan Dong Commune Youth Union, said: Recognizing the significant benefits of tree planting, my fellow youth members and I actively participated. The spring season, with its warm weather and gentle drizzles, provides ideal conditions for trees to take root and flourish. We hope that more roads and public spaces will be shaded by greenery, contributing to a better living environment.

According to Mr Le Vu Long, Deputy Secretary of Dong Hoa Town Youth Union, not only in Hoa Xuan Dong commune, but also in public places or on inter-village, inter-commune, and ward roads in Đông Hòa town has also been covered with trees of all kinds planted by young people, students, and children. In 2024, the Youth Union at all levels throughout the town planted 55,000 trees and flowers and implemented 10 youth flower routes.

This weekend (February 15), the Youth Union of provincial agencies and businesses held a ceremony to respond to the Planting Festival forever in gratitude to Uncle Ho in the 2025 Lunar New Year. 1,000 acacia trees and 100 areca trees will be planted by Youth Union members of My Lam Lake, Hoa Thinh Commune, and Tay Hoa District. Mr Nguyen Le Duy, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, stated that in 2025, the Youth Union strives to plant approximately 3,500 trees. The Standing Committee of Youth Unions directed affiliated Youth Unions to continue fostering the tree-planting movement, encouraging widespread participation among youth members under the motto: “Each Youth Union member plants at least one tree”. Ensuring that selected tree species and planting locations align with the environmental conditions of each locality, agency and unit.

According to Mr Luong Minh Tung, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and Chairman of the Provincial Youth Federation, the Planting Festival movement was implemented in response to the One Billion Trees program launched by the Central Youth Union for the 2021–2025 period. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union has set a target for the 2022–2027 term, aiming to plant one million new trees at all levels of the Provincial Youth Union. In 2024, the union at all levels planted nearly 230,000 new trees with a total value of 621 million VND. Youth Unions mobilized union members to actively participate in planting, nurturing, and protecting trees within their localities and units. This is also one of the criteria to evaluate the year-end union members.

Furthermore, the Provincial Youth Union also directed all levels of the Youth Union to regularly organize tree planting activities in conjunction with environmental protection efforts; effectively implement the movement of Volunteer Saturday, Green Sunday, and movements: Youth Joining Hands to Build New Rural Areas, Youth Building a Civilized Urban Environment, etc.

“The delegation consistently regards tree planting as a practical activity for the community, requiring the active participation of all youth members. In 2025, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union has set a target of planting 229,950 trees. Through tree planting and volunteer activities for the environment, all levels of the union want to inspire a strong sense of community responsibility among youth members about protecting the green environment in which they live", Mr Tung emphasized.
