In addition to internal transactions, cooperatives also engage in external transactions. Although these external transactions represent a smaller portion, they serve as revenue-generating services that contribute to the cooperative's profitability and maintain production activities.

Hoa Phong Cooperative trying to find a way to strengthen the brand reputation of Hoa Phong silkworm wine, aiming to promote consumption and maintain the development of traditional craft villages |
Hoa Phong Agricultural Service Cooperative (Tay Hoa District) operates 7 business services, including the trade of agricultural materials (fertilizers and pesticides), rice seed sales, waste collection services, silkworm wine production, property leasing, insurance collection, and petrol retail. These services collectively generate a pre-tax income of nearly 350 million VND.
Mr Nguyen Van Dong, Director of this cooperative, said: The cooperative imports fertilizers and pesticides from reputable companies and resells them to members at the price of a level-1 dealer store, thereby ensuring reasonable prices and quality when they reach consumers. For member customers, the cooperative makes contracts to associate production, supply all inputs, and purchase output rice; move from external transactions to internal transactions; and create more profits for members. With the service of supplying seed rice, the cooperative buys certified seed from the company and its members and then checks and proceeds to deconcrete. Until the breed meets the standards, it is advisable to plant to expand the area of using pure rice varieties, minimizing the common practice of using regular rice grains for planting. In 2024, the cooperative consumed more than 2,300 kg of seed rice.
The cooperative also opened a service of leasing business premises, including 12,692 m² of land and 4 kiosks at the market with an area of 162 m². The cooperative also maintains waste collection and insurance services. In particular, the cooperative contracts with Dong Hoa Construction and Urban Development One Member Company Limited to collect waste from 2,710 households in My Thanh Dong 1 and Phuoc Thanh Dong villages. Simultaneously, the cooperative contracts to act as an insurance agent for district social insurance. For petroleum retail services, in the year, the cooperative consumed more than 1 million liters of gasoline and oil, reaching 105% compared to 2023.
"The cooperative is very happy that despite many difficulties, the promotion of production and business has brought revenue to the cooperative. Since then, the cooperative has profit sharing for capital contributors. In 2024, the cooperative allocated nearly 322 million VND in profit shares to its members, exceeding the planned target by 20% and marking a 104.7% increase compared to 2023", Mr Dong shared.
"In the past, the consumption of silkworm wine in the cooperative has faced many difficulties due to the lack of delicate design and biological sedimentation of the product. The cooperative has invested in funding for sediment filtering and model reform. Furthermore, to enhance product quality, it has established an area code for mulberry cultivation, strengthened brand positioning, modernized silkworm farming infrastructure, and improved the preliminary processing of mulberry leaves. Beyond tackling difficult service areas, the cooperative also focuses on continuously enhancing the quality of its high-revenue services, such as retail operations." At the store, the cooperative installs sales cameras, electrical cabinets, issues electronic invoices, and lighting power systems to ensure the necessary equipment as prescribed. Simultaneously, the cooperative is equipped with fire protection and fire extinguishers to replace old ones that are overdue; establish clear guidelines on communication and professional conduct for sales staff..." Mr Dong added.
According to Ms. Luong Thi Truc Ho, Director of Dong Tron Agroforestry Cooperative (Tay Hoa district), while the cooperative primarily focuses on seedling and flower supply services, it continuously works to enhance service quality by diversifying its seedlings. The cooperative not only has pure local flower varieties, but also the cooperative introduces rare and unique flowers from other provinces. For tree varieties, it offers a diverse selection, including fruit trees, timber trees, and distinctive ornamental plants. Imported plant and flower varieties undergo an acclimatization process in the cooperative’s nursery, where they are carefully nurtured and adapted to local climatic and soil conditions before being made available for sale.
