The Provincial Party Standing Committee has recently held a conference to gather opinions on the plan for reorganizing provincial-level administrative units. Comrade Cao Thi Hoa An, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council, presided over the meeting.

At the conference, Director of the Department of Home Affairs, Mr. Truong Ngoc Tuan presented the draft proposal for the reorganization of Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces. Accordingly, a centrally governed Dak Lak Province would be established based on the merger of administrative units from the current Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces. The newly established administrative unit of Dak Lak Province would cover a total area of 18,096.4 km² (226.2% of the standard size) and have a population of 3,346,853 (371.87% of the standard). It would consist of 101 subordinate administrative units (including 67 from the former Dak Lak Province and 34 from Phu Yen Province). The administrative-political center of the new Dak Lak Province would be located in the current Dak Lak Province.

After the reorganization of Dak Lak Province’s administrative units, it is expected that the entire infrastructure and public assets of the current agencies, units, and localities will be utilized to serve the execution of tasks and duties. The headquarters of the agencies and units in Dak Lak Province will be designated as the main office, with consideration will be given to setting up a portion of the workforce at a secondary office located at the former Phu Yen Province headquarters. Simultaneously, measures will be taken to facilitate housing arrangements for civil servants and officials, as well as transportation allowances for those relocating from Phu Yen to work at the main office in Dak Lak. Once the administrative structure of the new unit is stabilized, the province will review, reorganize, and allocate office spaces and public assets in compliance with regulations and in accordance with actual circumstances.

At the conference, the delegates generally agreed with the draft proposal on the reorganization of Phu Yen and Dak Lak provinces. Furthermore, the conference also discussed and provided more detailed opinions on the specific options and roadmap for the reorganization and consolidation of the organizational structure of agencies and institutions; the arrangement and assignment of officials, public servants, civil servants, and laborers; as well as the current situation regarding socio-eco development and national defense and security.

Addressing at the conference, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Cao Thi Hoa An emphasized that following the reorganization, the newly restructured Dak Lak Province will benefit from an expanded development space, increased population size, and enhanced capacity to mobilize resources. This will allow the province to leverage the existing advantages of localities to drive development, streamline the organizational structure and administrative apparatus, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of local government management, ultimately creating greater convenience for the people.
