Phu Yen has just celebrated numerous meaningful activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the province, towards the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. In the common joy of the nation, I recall the image of my hometown Phu Yen after numerous years of construction and development to love and be proud of it even more.

A difficult time
Our generation born after 1975, living and studying in an independent country, a unified country, a peaceful homeland is very lucky and happy. Although there are no more bombs and bullets, due to the severe consequences of war and numerous other reasons, people's lives are extremely difficult and deprived.
During the subsidy period, children like me did not understand much, only knowing that if we wanted to buy salt, kerosene, soap..., we had to bring our "Purchase book" to the cooperative store, then wait in line. At that time, the image of my hometown was of flickering oil lamps, thatched houses with mud walls, fields of grass growing more than rice, people working hard from morning to noon, warehouses filled with rotten straw, the resounding gongs from bomb shells as big as thermos flasks to signal the time for cooperative members to go to work or for production team meetings, evenings showing movies on a big screen in the middle of the schoolyard, classrooms lacking desks and chairs and doors that could not be closed when the wind and rain blew, muddy roads, pots of stale rice mixed with potatoes and corn... Thinking back, I felt melancholy and missed my hometown even more during a difficult time.
In 1986, our country carried out the renovation process, abolishing the centralized subsidy mechanism. Under the wise leadership of the Party, the correct and timely policies and guidelines helped the whole country in general and my hometown in particular gradually prosper, and people's lives gradually improved.
Since July 1, 1989, Phu Yen province was re-established, separated from Phu Khanh province (including Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa), the appearance of my hometown has changed significantly, the development speed is quite fast.
Changing every day
Not only relying on statistics, I see the change and development of my hometown through each field, each road, each bridge, each school, each roof, each look or laughter around here.
That is the green rice fields with heavy rice grains. That is the pots of rice without having to use cassava to fill the pot with sweet potatoes. That is no longer worrying about hunger in the lean season. That is the newly built schools, spacious, clean and beautiful. That is the pupils in clean clothes, with full facilities, happily going to class. That is the electricity grid that is brought to light up everywhere, the solid concrete roads, the sturdy bridges across the river...
All of them bring boundless joy, like sweet rains, cool winds blowing through the homeland, contributing to awakening the potential, helping to revive the remote, isolated countryside of Phu Yen.
During the journey of construction and development of Phu Yen, Tuy Hoa city, the central urban area, has had the strongest transformation. From a small town with degraded and outdated infrastructure, after decades of construction, Tuy Hoa has put on new clothes, becoming a youthful, beautiful, modern, civilized coastal city.
Anyone who has ever been attached to Tuy Hoa or has had the opportunity to come here and return, is amazed at the changes here, very different from the past. The previously pristine coastal sand areas are now being planned synchronously, forming routes along the shore, expanding to the south of the Da Rang river, creating land for the construction of offices, houses, commercial centers, and adding squares, lakes, and entertainment parks for the people of the whole province.
In recent years, Nghinh Phong tower has become a very famous place, loved and visited by numerous friends from near and far. Tuy Hoa has developed but still retains its peaceful, friendly beauty, and harmony between the countryside and the city.
Rural and mountainous areas in Phu Yen have also received attention and proper investment. Essential needs to serve people's lives such as electricity, roads, schools, stations, clean water, and community centers are given priority for construction.
That contributes to promoting economic development, improving the lives of people, especially ethnic minorities, who are more happy and confident in the Party, while narrowing the gap between urban areas and rural and mountainous areas.
Now, coming to the rural and mountainous areas of Phu Yen, we can see spacious houses, flat concrete roads, bright lights everywhere, children going to school, bustling with laughter and songs... People enjoy a free, peaceful, prosperous and happy life.
Our country is getting richer and stronger, our people are getting more prosperous and happy. The province's development today is the result of 50 years of the whole Party, the whole army and the whole people of Phu Yen joining hands, working together, and striving to build.
