Respecting cultural and historical values
Nghinh Phong Tower square is at the intersection of Nguyen Huu Tho Avenue and Doc Lap Street running along the beach, bordering the East Sea. Nghinh Phong Tower is the center of the space of Tuy Hoa Coastal Park and luxury resorts, creating a complex of modern, airy coastal urban space with blue sea, white sand and golden sunshine.
Nghinh Phong Tower is designed with high symbolism, respecting the cultural and historical values of Phu Yen land and people associated with Vietnamese culture and history.
The design idea for building Nghinh Phong Tower square was implemented in April 2019, by Company of HUNI architectes Vietnam. It is a combination of the image of the special national relic Da Dia Reef with the legend of Father Lac Long Quan and Mother Au Co. The project was constructed for nearly 2 years by a consortium of domestic construction companies and completed on November 30, 2021.
The work consists of 4 main parts: The square yard has a total area of 7,190m2, semicircular, paved with granite. It is also a large outdoor stage to organize large, crowded events.
The center of square is Nghinh Phong Tower. The steps are staggered from 7 to 9 steps. The tower body consists of 2 parts (twin towers) 35m and 30m high. Each tower has 50 stone pillars of equal size arranged next to each other from low to high, gradually moving inside.
Nghinh Phong wind welcoming slot is 2m wide and 15m long. On the two walls between the two tower parts are bas-reliefs about the legend of Lac - Hong, the process of building and defending the country of Vietnamese people.
Below the Nghinh Phong Tower square, adjacent to the sandy beach, is where the entertainment and culinary space is organized.
Nghinh Phong Tower square is designed in harmony with the surrounding landscape, ecological environment, and open sea space. The main material used for the work is locally available natural granite. In particular, Nghinh Phong Tower honors traditional cultural and historical values. The design simulates the image of the special national scenic spot of Da Dia Reef and the legend of Father Lac Long Quan and Mother Au Co: They gave birth to 100 eggs and 100 children hatched; 50 children followed Father to the sea, 50 children followed Mother to the mountain and they reclaimed land and expanded our country to what it is today. The twin towers symbolize Father Dragon - Mother Fairy, harmony of yin - yang, and are a symbol of solidarity among Vietnamese ethnic groups.
At night, Nghinh Phong Tower is illuminated by a color light system using Bobine Tesia technology with 3D mapping and high-intensity laser, creating a multi-colored light dance.
Symbol of tourism
The name Nghinh Phong (wind-welcoming) represents the mindset of Phu Yen people in the Easternmost land of the country, wishing for sustainable development in accordance with nature, and being open to receiving energy sources from the sea. If Dien Cape (Dong Hoa town) is the place to receive the first sunlight on the mainland of Vietnam, Nghinh Phong Tower is the place to receive the east wind and prosperity from the ocean.
Mr Nguyen Khoa Khang, Head of Tuy Hoa City Urban Management Department, informed: Nghinh Phong Tower Square contributes to changing and enhancing the city's appearance, creating highlights and differences of Tuy Hoa compared to other surrounding coastal cities. The city’s appearance becomes modern and environmentally friendly, which is the premise to attract great investors to Phu Yen. The work is a tourism symbol for the city and Phu Yen province.
Since the inauguration of the work, the square has become the venue for many major events in the province. Nghinh Phong Tower has become a new symbol of Tuy Hoa city, attracting a large number of tourists to visit and check-in. Mr Cao Hong Nguyen, Head of the Tourism Management Board (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) affirmed: "Not only is it a venue for provincial-level cultural and tourist events, Nghinh Phong Tower square was once chosen by the Organizing Committee of the 31st SEA Games (2022) as the setting for filming the MV of the song "Let's shine", the song "Let's Shine", official song of the 31st SEA Games. Tourists coming to Phu Yen cannot miss the sights and check-in photos at Nghinh Phong tower".
With the orientation of coastal urban development, Tuy Hoa city will become a class I urban area under the province by 2025, a green - clean - beautiful and livable city; the tourist center of the South Central region and the Central Highlands, Nghinh Phong Tower square is a symbol of tourism.
International awards in landscape, architecture, and tourism for Nghinh Phong Tower square are brand affirmation, contributing to effective tourism promotion to domestic and international tourists. Tourism of Tuy Hoa city in particular and Phu Yen province in general will develop towards integration, quality and sustainability, becoming a key economic sector.
