From a town to a city, Tuy Hoa's area has expanded from 6,436ha to 10,682ha. According to Tuy Hoa city People's Committee, in 2005, Tuy Hoa city was established under Decree 03/2005/ND dated January 5, 2005 of the Government. Accordingly, in addition to the 6,436ha natural area of the old town, Tuy Hoa expanded by 2,187ha of An Phu commune (Tuy An district) and 2,059ha of Phu Lam township (old Tuy Hoa district).
Tuy Hoa from 12 administrative units including 9 wards and 3 communes of Binh Ngoc, Binh Kien and Hoa Kien to 14 administrative units including 10 wards and 4 communes. In 2024, Tuy Hoa city and its surrounding areas will have their planning adjusted, in which the research area will be up to 17,436 hectares with a planning area of about 11,126 hectares and a surrounding area of about 6,310 hectares.
Along with expanding the planning area, the city will upgrade administrative units from communes to wards. In the 2020-2025 period, 3 communes of Binh Ngoc, Binh Kien and An Phú will be upgraded to wards. On November 1, 2024, implementing Resolution 1200/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Tuy Hoa city currently has 12 administrative units including 9 wards and 3 communes. In the coming time, the city will continue to upgrade Binh Kien and An Phú communes to wards and build Hoa Kien commune to meet advanced new rural standards.
Mr Cao Dinh Huy, Chairman of Tuy Hoa city People's Committee, informed: Over the past 20 years, Tuy Hoa city has gradually expanded the urban core, spreading development from the urban center to the surrounding areas. Roads have been expanded and extended, from more than 30 inner-city routes to 123 routes now. The sea, mountain and river areas have also been planned and exploited to include in the socio-economic development space associated with the city center.
"In addition to Nhan mountain, Chop Chai mountain is currently being exploited to include in the planning of an inner-city forest, creating a unique feature for Tuy Hoa city. Da Rang river is more clearly present in the urban space when planned into the Southern Da Rang river Urban Area, the River Tourism Center in Ngoc Lang, the Northern Ba river Urban Area... The coastal area has been invested and exploited to become the city's key tourism and service development area. Simultaneously, the city focuses on implementing the Night Economy Development Project; promoting the exploitation of the Tuy Hoa city Smart Urban Operations Center, directing Tuy Hoa to become a smart city with its own identity and a locality with a high happiness index in the region", Mr Huy added.

In that photo was a small pagoda, located alone in the middle of a vast field. Also taking a photo of Ho Son pagoda, but today it is located peacefully in the space of Ho Son park and a bustling residential area, creating a beautiful picture in the heart of the city. Just like that, all the developments of Tuy Hoa from people's lives to infrastructure projects appear realistically in each picture I took.
Addressing at the 20th anniversary of the city's establishment, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Mr Ta Anh Tuan emphasized: Up to now, Tuy Hoa has grown strongly, becoming a modern, dynamic, green - clean - beautiful urban area with its own identity. Urban space planning has been implemented methodically, harmoniously combining the preservation of natural values and modern development. Traffic, service and tourism infrastructure are increasingly improved, creating a driving force to attract investment and develop sea tourism and ecological urban areas; the economic structure has shifted positively, the proportion of trade - services and industry - construction has continuously increased, while agriculture has decreased significantly, in line with the trend of modern urban development.
