Tuy Hoa city before 1945 was Chau Thanh commune with Sa Huynh culture with the main occupations of farming, raising livestock and fishing. Chau Thanh commune had many hamlets such as Binh Nhan, Binh An, Binh Hoa..., which over time changed to wards. The name of Tuy Hoa has been around since very early times, associated with Tuy Hoa rice fields which is famous throughout the country, especially since Dong Cam dam system was built.

Previously, Tuy Hoa urban area developed in an east-west direction; Tran Hung Dao and Nguyen Hue streets faced the sea with function of both transportation and corridors bringing sunlight and wind into the city center. In the evening, going out around the streets and watching movies at Hung Dao cinema, the moon followed us the whole way (there was little electricity at that time so the moon was very precious). The townhouses on both sides were all 5-6m wide (no houses with 3-4m wide), the height of the ground floor and the frame of ground floor overhang were the same, the neat beauty created the urban soul. The shady trees on the streets and cicada sound in summer afternoon created a peaceful and leisurely worth-living place.

Numerous people are nostalgic about the stages of Tuy Hoa. 1945-1975 was the foundation stage, forming the urban identity. 1975-1989 was a very slow development stage, for a short time Tuy Hoa urban area was forgotten and merged into Tuy Hoa district. 1989 to now, it has developed very quickly, becoming the provincial capital of Phu Yen and class-2 city. Hopefully, from now until 100 years old, Tuy Hoa will develop into a green, clean, beautiful, civilized and modern urban area.

The characteristics of Tuy Hoa city are Da Rang river flowing through the city the sea, Chop Chai mountain, Nhan mountain, Tuy Hoa rice fields and gardens right in the heart of the city. Tuy Hoa also has a source of fresh water provided by Ba river and Dong Cam dam system, which is considered a resource for building an urban area with a good living environment.

Tuy Hoa city has undergone 5 planning and adjustments, the current one is the 6^th time. According to the approved planning, the current population is more than 160.000 people with 11.060 hectares of land. The population is expected to increase to 260.000 people by 2030 and 300.000 people by 2045.

A good urban space brings vitality to the community, a beautiful house brings a new way of life to each family. The appearance of Tuy Hoa today is different from the past, the city develops along the north-south axis. The city has 4 road bridges, along with a 21-span railway bridge. Each bridge was built in different historical periods, but they share the same mission of contributing to the development of Tuy Hoa urban area. The sea park with length of more than 7km is a community space with a fresh green color.

Nghinh Phong tower is the highlight of this park, a Phu Yen song written from the wind, attracting a large number of tourists. Youth Park, Ho Son regulating lake... are considered the "green lungs" of the city. In particular, Ngoc Lang flower village- a green island with three sides bordering the river and full of alluvium... will also have a high-class resort here in the future, a shining gem right in the heart of the city.

Nowadays, Tuy Hoa urban area has had numerous architectural styles with modern design, advanced materials and techniques, complex functions, some new, high-end or high-rise projects, creating highlights for the city. Green architecture, traditional architecture has also appeared in some works, new signals of the times, are attractive destinations for tourists, not inferior to other large cities. With the potential and advantages through the stages of construction and development, the government and people are determined to build and upgrade Tuy Hoa city to meet the criteria of a class-1 urban area under Phu Yen province by 2025...
